In Honour Of The Fire Victims!

There's not much I really want to say with this post today, given it's our National Day Of Mourning for those who lost loved ones, family, friends and homes in our recent Australian Bush Fires!

I can only hope, that those left behind have the strength and courage to travel the long road ahead to rebuild their lives!

A Quick Card!

Good Morning!

Just a really quick post from me today, as I have a pretty busy day ahead!

This is a card I made last night for a friends birthday that's coming up soon! It's just a simple card, but I was so pleased with how it turned out!

I wanted to try the Pick A Petal stamp set using earthy tones, so I chose Chocolate chip, River Rock and Kraft as my colour scheme! You can't see it all that well, but the base card has been stamped with the Linen Background and I sponged around the edge just to give it a bit more definition!

I'll mail it off early next week, so I hope she likes it!

Hope you all have a great day, and again I apologise for the quick post!

No............I Haven't Gone Mad!!

Where do I even start with this post? Maybe I should start by saying......put your sunnies on and grab a cuppa, cause it might be a long and bright one!lol

Ok, so it all began last week by me trying to be a good friend to Keesh and help her overcome her total dislike for the colour Yellow! She absolutely HATES it, and you'll notice if you check out her website, that she very rarely uses any shades of it!

So, the tale continues with me stupidly daring her to make a card using the Big Ol' Ugly Flower (aka Fabulous Flowers stamp set) and all of the Stampin' Up! shades of yellow......So Saffron, Yo Yo Yellow, Barely Banana and Summer Sun!
Secretly I had hoped there was no way in heck she would pull it off, but the trooper that she is DID, and it's just so gorgeous!! Check it out here!

I was now waiting patiently for her to issue me with a challenge in return, and I have to say, I was a tad worried.........and as it turns out.........rightly so! lol

She knows I just can't for the life of me work with the Bold Brights colour family and used that to her definite advantage! While I love the colours, I just can't create with them no matter how hard I try! I'm guessing you know where this is leading.................but wait, there's more! lol

Her challenge to me was this...........make a card using ALL 12 BOLD BRIGHTS COLOURS AND the card must also have used 2 TECHNIQUES ! She obviously read my last post about how I am not a techniques kinda gal! lol
No prizes for guessing who drew the short straw with this challenge hey Keesh! lol

By now I was thinking this is "Totally Game On"...............and I worked for a couple of hours to create the card below which meets all of Keesh's challenge criteria! It's definitely NOT the most gorgeous card in the world, but luckily for me, she didn't tell me it had to be either! he he he!

So without any further waffling on, let me introduce to you...........The Big Ol' Ugly Flower In 12 Bold Bright Colours featuring 2 Techniques!!

So let me walk you through the card and lets count the colours and techniques shall we?

Righto - the base is Yo Yo Yellow, the next layer is Glorious Green which is then layered onto Whisper White! (2 Bold Brights Colours there)

The faux stitching I did using my Tempting Turquoise marker, while the flourishes from Baroque Motifs was stamped once in Green Galore and then again in Gable Green to create a shadow! (3 colours there)

The BOUF I stamped in Pixie Pink and did the Rock-n-Roll technique with Pink Passion, and I then did the Kissing technique on it with Real Red! (3 colours and 2 techs there!)
I thought I'd add a larger flower centre to it and stamped that in Only Orange. (1 colour there)

Then we move onto the gorgeous little purple flowers which I stamped in Orchid Opulance and then Rock-n-Rolled in Lovely Lilac, and lastly I stamped the sentiment in Brilliant Blue Ink! (3 colours there)

So there ya have it....................challenge DONE!! Do I pass Keesh?

Fun With Fish!

I was still feeling pretty creative last night, so I sat and watched some telly and stamped away to my hearts content!

Those who know me well, will tell you I'm not a "technique" kinda gal..........I just like to stamp and go! However, I've been dying to try the polished stone technique and I have to say.........I'm hooked!

I knew I wanted to use 'Ocean Commotion' for my card, so I went with under water kind of colours - those being Old Olive, Mellow Moss and Certainly Celery! Mixing those together provided me with a great background to work with!

For the air bubbles, I used my cropodile to dry emboss (use settings A2), then I put a drop of crystal effects on each one, which then made the old olive really "pop" out!
The fish and the seaweed were both stamped with Black Stazon ink, however just looking at my photo as I type this post - the fish looks brown - whats with that? lol

The striped paper is from the 'Summer Picnic' Designer Series Papers, and while it's no longer available, it was perfect to use with this card!

Hope you all like it, and I must give a huge thanks to my good friend Jean for her wonderful tips, which worked a treat!

ETA - If I didn't fix that brown looking fish it would have driven me insane all day! So it's now black just like it is IRL! lol

Last One For Today!

I promise this will be my last post for today - my creative mind is a little sleepy! :)

Water colouring is not one of my strong points, although I do try to practice it regularly in order to improve!

The card I've just made has used the 'Summer By The Sea' stamp set, as I find it's images are just perfect if you need to brush up on those water colouring skills!

I chose to use nice earthy tones (Mellow Moss and Close To Cocoa) and make the little girls dress the main feature. I coloured her dress with Blue Bayou!
I used the Linen Background stamp on the Mellow Moss Card stock, as I felt it needed a lift when I paired it with the stripes from the 'Notebook' Designer Series Papers!

Because I was aiming for simplicity with this card, I only added a piece of Hodge Podge Hardware, some ribbon and brads and I was done!

Even though I still have a way to go with my colouring, over all I was really pleased with my effort this time round and I hope you like it too!:)

2 Cards In One Morning!

I just finished making this card and thought I'd upload it today as well! Hopefully then in the coming weeks you can forgive me if I get a bit "slack"!

This card is using the gorgeous Pick A Petal Stamp set! It's another set I love, because you can make such pretty cards, very quickly with it!

The colour scheme is Groovy Guava, Blue Bayou, Old Olive and So Saffron and I got that combination from the print out available on our Demonstrator website! It gives you suggested colours that co-ordinate with all the In Colours - awesome tool!!

I was really happy with this card..........it's very simple, but also very cheery. Can you see I included a clear button in the centre of the flower just to add a little bit of interest? Gotta love those clear buttons! lol

Hope you like it!

Another Wanted Card!

I'm not sure what it is about this 'Wanted' set at the moment, but I'm really enjoying playing with it! Maybe it's the challenge of creating some tricky male cards that's drawing me to it, I'm not sure!

Anyway, it won't be long before we'll have to bid farewell to our current 'In Colours', so I really want to use them a bit more!

For this card I used Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla and some DSP from the Afternoon Tea series!

You'll also notice that I've used stamps that aren't part of the Wanted Stamp Set, and they've come from the 'Stamp Of Authenticity' which you can find on page 91 of our current Idea Book And Catalogue! I also used the Sanded Background Stamp too.........love that one!
I sure hope that set (Stamp of Authenticity) doesn't appear on the retirement list, but I have a slight suspicion it will! I personally find it's a great stamp set for covering up mistakes!! LOL

Yes........ I did make a bit of a "boo boo" on this card, and while it wasn't a HUGE mistake, it was big enough for me to almost not post the card on my blog - but it's fixed now! Phew! lol

That'll teach me for making cards in my jammies at 6.30am, complete with bed hair and skipping on breakfast won't it!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Bye Bodacious Bouquet!

After seeing that 'Bodacious Bouquet' will be on the retirement list this year, I have to say I feel a bit sad! This set has pulled me out of many a tight spot when I've needed a card in 5 minutes flat............I can't imagine not having it to play with!

Anyways, funnily enough, I was sitting have a coffee with my cousin yesterday at Gloria Jeans and a lady came in and plonked herself down at the table next to us.
She had the most beautiful hand bag, and would you believe, the print was virtually identical to Bodacious Bouquet!

I took a mental note of the colours, and made the card today with her bag being my inspiration! I wish I had my camera with me so you could see how virtually identical it was - it was totally uncanny!

The colour scheme is Ruby Red, Close To Cocoa, Summer Sun (your fave colour Keesh!!) and old olive! Please excuse the photo quality, I'm not sure what's wrong today, but I just can't get a nice photo of it!

Enjoy!

Workshop Sample Cards!

Mornin' everyone!

Just a quick post from me today as I have 5 million and 1 things to get done before my workshop tomorrow! It's going to be a really fun one (not that they're ever boring!!lol) because we're all going to be playing around with embossing powder! I've recently been playing with it alot.......I forgot how darn fun that stuff is!

Anyway, while these aren't the cards we're making, they are samples I'll have on display to showcase the techniques we'll be doing!

The first one demonstrates just Basic Embossing............the gorgeous flourish is embossed in black! I just love how elegant this card has turned out, perfect for a wedding or anniversary card maybe? Black, Basic Grey and White always produces elegant cards I think, along with a little bit of "bling"!

The card below shows how you can make cute little embellishments using the Faux Metal technique! You can dress up cards so easily just by using embossing powder - love it!

We're also doing Emboss Resist, but as yet I haven't done up an extra sample! Will just add that to my list..........that's now 5 million and 2 things to do! lol

Have a great day everyone, hope you enjoy these cards!

What Is A Colour Coach And Who Wants One Free?

Good morning everyone!

After my post yesterday, I received a couple of emails and also a question in my comments section (Wavin' at ya Janet!!:) asking me what a "Colour Coach" was!

Ok, so for my explanation I'm going to direct you to our online Stampin' Up! Catalogue! You now need to flick through till you see page 128. The 'coach' is the colourful looking circular object, and you can use the magnifying tools at the top of the page to get a close up look at it!

Now, it's specifically designed to be used with our Stampin' Up! colours BUT you could definitely still use it even if you don't have the Stampin' Up! coloured products on hand! I had a customer purchase one once to help her with the paint selection for the interior of her house!! So there ya go! lol

It's a very easy tool to use. All you do is select a colour you would like to work with - lets just say you're in a bit of a 'Pixie Pink' kinda mood! Move the dial around until your little black arrow points to the 'Pixie Pink' colour on the outside rim! In the cut out windows below, it will then show you colours that will co-ordinate with Pixie Pink, and it will also list a complementary colour that you could also incorporate! That's honestly all there is to it, and believe me, this little thing will get you using colours together you never dreamed of using - I swear by it!

Now............these Colour Coach's are valued at $18.95, however for the next 24 hours only, anyone placing a $200 order with me will receive one absolutely FREE with their order!
And don't forget, you will also qualify for 2 FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp sets as well!

I can have your order delivered anywhere in Australia too, so if you live outside Mackay, or the Queensland area, that's not a problem! Just email me and we can get the ball rolling!

Have a great day everyone, and I hope I explained it well enough for you all! If not, let me know and I will do a step by step photographic tutorial!

"Colour Coach" To The Rescue......Again!

Ok.......so in Mackay yesterday it totally bucketed down rain for most of the day!! Another perfect day for card making.......kind of!

I started off in the morning just puddling around with colours and layouts ect, but nothing was working for me, so I put it all to the side and went off and played my Nintendo DS for a while.......those things aren't just for kids ya know, and you should see how good I am at Super Mario Bros..........NOT! lol

By the afternoon I was ready to go again with a second attempt at creating, this time I found inspiration from my 'Colour Coach' - thank god for this little invention!
I also thought I'd better bring out one of my Sale-A-Bration sets to play with too, this one would have to be my favourite, and it's called Botanical Blooms!
You can earn this set for FREE just by placing a $100 order (before S&H) with me by February 28th!:)

Anyway after a lengthy chat to my 'Coach', it told me to use Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Rose Red, More Mustard and Ballet Blue. I also threw in some Old Olive as well.......just to create more chaos for myself! ha ha!

This is what resulted!

It's so very different from the colours I would normally choose, but I really like it!

I challenge you to use your 'Colour Coach' today, and create something using a colour combination you've never tried before. It really is the most wonderful tool for paper crafting, and certainly makes creating alot more interesting!

Have a great day everyone!
