A Card From Yesterday's Workshop!

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd pop on quickly and show you one of the projects the girls made at a workshop I did yesterday arvy! My Hostess Renee, was keen to learn embossing so we went through how to do Basic Embossing, Faux Metal and also how to use Heat And Stick Powder to cover your image with Dazzling Diamonds!

The card below was the one they all made for their Faux Metal embellishment card!

As you can see it's a very cute and simple card with the feature being the embellishment in the flower center! The colour scheme we used was Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Barely Banana and also Certainly Celery!

It was another totally fun workshop, with heaps of laughs and absolutely gorgeous nibblies!

Thanks so much Renee for a fabo arvy!

Thank God For Challenges!!

As the title reads.............thank god for challenges! lol

Again, I haven't stamped all week except for Keesh's challenge, which I have to say is a real beauty! I just LOVED playing with these colours, and they look really pretty together! I'm also fairly confident to say it's a combination I've never used before, so that's a definite bonus too!

These are the colours we had to play with................noice hey!

And here's my card!

I aimed for simple elegance with this creation, and the Flower Fancy set certainly delivers on that!

Funnily enough, it's one set I never liked in the catalogue when it first came out, simply because it reminded me of the Heart Felt Thanks set! I realllllllly don't like that set at all for some reason and yet it was one that I still opted to get in my starter kit all those years back. Go Figure! lol
Anyhow, after seeing all the beautiful creations made with Flower Fancy at convention - I came home, jumped online and bought it, and I certainly haven't regretted it!

So, all I've done with my card is stamped the flower on the branch a couple of times in Basic Grey Ink, then blended the ink on the leaves with my blender pen. Then on a seperate piece of card stock, I stamped a flower in Ruby Red (as well as the flower bud) and also one in Baja Breeze, cut them out and attached them using dimensionals after I popped a brad through each of their centres!

The main flower is stamped off once in Baja Breeze ink and then the outline is stamped over it in Baja Breeze ink also! Then for the flower centre, I've stamped an extra on Baja Breeze card and cut it out, stuck one of the gorgous clear stone brads through the middle and attached it with a dimensional! The little curly bits on my card, are made by simply cutting the thinnest strip of Baja Breeze card with my stanley knife and it curls all by itself as your cut!

I'm off to check out the rest of the Design Team creations, so be sure you do too! You'll find links to their blogs on my sidebar!

Mystery Mail!

Morning everyone!

I've just popped on briefly to say a huge THANK YOU to an anonymous someone who has sent me the cutest tiniest aeroplane cut outs which I received just today in the mail. There was no note or anything inside, or an address on the back of the envelope indicating who had sent them to me (don't ya love a good mystery!lol), so I thought it would be easier to put a post on my blog hoping that the kind person see's it! They sure will come in handy when I make cute little aeroplane goodies for Brock!

On that note, I thought I'd share with you all a photo which was taken on Anzac Day this year! As most of you know, my little mate who is almost 9 LOVES planes and has done for many years now!

Anyhoooo, he was lucky enough to be given a flight in the Tiger Moth which flew over some Anzac Day celebrations very early in the morning - an experience he thought was just fantastic!

I was a bit worried that he'd freak out when he got in the air, because as you can see the seating arrangements are rather 'open' with him being the front passenger and the pilot behind him - but nope not a chance, he just enjoyed the flight and is very keen to go again sometime soon!

So again, thank you to my 'mystery goodie sender' for thinking of my little mate when you saw these gorgeous little cut outs - he will love them!

On a final note, I hope to return to some kind of normal blogging routine very soon, but since being sick, I've just lost my total desire to stamp, and other than my DT projects for Keesh, I have stamped zilch for weeks! I'm just taking it in my stride though, and I'm not making myself sit and do something when I just don't feel like it, that would be silly! So for now, just look forward to my Friday night uploads and anything else will just be a bonus I think!

Another Fun Inkspiration Challenge!

Hi Ho Everyone - hope you've had a great week!

I'd love to say that I got lots and lots of stamping done.......but that would just be the hugest fib one could tell! lol
I can feel myself getting better though which is a good thing as I have a fabo fun workshop to do for my friend Renee next Saturday, so I'm trying really hard to just chill out as I certainly don't want to be delivering them a wiz bang workshop and the flu as well.........definitely not cool! lol

Okey dokey, so this week Keesh had an awesome sketch challenge for us to try out, and I have to say, I was really looking forward to this one! Sick or not I was determined to pull something off, no way was I gonna pike it!

Here's the sketch!

Here's my card!

For my card, I've used So Saffron as the base, and teamed that up with some Baja Breeze, and Riding Hood Red and some of the gorgeous prints from the Sweet Slumber Specialty pack! Love that stuff! I've also used a little bit of the DSP from the Good Morning Sunshine Pack too which even though is heaps brighter, worked in with the fun theme of the card!
The stamp I used is from the Crazy For Cupcakes set - I just love that big cupcake!

As you can see, I've paper pieced the bottom of the cake, and added some larger 'choc chips' and 'sprinkles' just for fun! I've then coated all the 'sprinkles' and 'choc chips' with crystal effects which did look really cool until it made my choc chips look jet black! lol

I've crimped the base of the larger tag and added a row of sprinkles along the buttom too just so it all tied in with the 2 little choc chips on the bottom RHS!
To finish it off, I felt it still needed a little something, so I added a bow using the choc chip grosgrain ribbon and a bit of faux stitching! Mission complete!!

I hope you like this one as much I as I do! Thanks Keesh for another super sketch, and be sure to check out all my DT girl friends to see what they came up with! You'll find their links on my RH side bar!

Simplicity Is Good!

Hiya everyone!

Just a very quick entry from me today! Last week saw me feeling a bit off colour, and it would appear that was the lead up to the flu type thing I have right now! Don't get me wrong, I'm not bed ridden or anything, I just in general don't feel all that 'flash' and have a very sore throat and ears along with the normal ol' sniffly nose! Hopefully I'll be rid of it soon, cause just quietly........I'm very much over it! lol

Anyhooo, I had sit down today and get my card done for Keesh's weekly challenge (which I'll upload just after 6 on Friday night) and since I hadn't touched my stamps in almost 10 days, I wanted to make an extra little somthing to put on my blog.

This is what I came up with!

I've used Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Tangarine Tango as the colour scheme, which was something nice to try, and the stamp is from Flower Fancy! The sentiment is from the 'On Your Birthday' stamp set!

I won't go into all the card details as it's a pretty simple card as you can see, with the leaves and the flower being popped up with dimensionals! If you do have any questions though, feel free to email me!

Hope you like it, and I'll be back Friday night with my Design Team challenge card!

Inkspiration Challenge!

Hey there everyone!

Well, it's been a very uneventful week stamping wise in the Thomas house as you'll have noticed! Thank goodness I made this card last weekend when I was feeling creative - Phew!!
I do have to confess though to getting very stressed by the challenge, so Keesh, you sure got me a good one with it! lol

Now after looking at the pic below, your probaby thinking "why the heck did she get so stressed over this challenge?" and to be honest, I can't really pin point what my problem was! I tried a multitude of different ideas, none of which were working, so I decided to take a step back, and go for simplicity! Yay for me - it worked!!!

This is my finished card!

I've used the grass from the Inspired By Nature Stamp set and embossed that with clear embossing powder - just to give it a bit of a glossy look! Then I've stamped and layered the butterfly from the Flight Of The Butterfly stamp set and I gave it a more defined body by using the punched out bit from the rectangle slot punch!

Then to finish off the card I just used a piece of Hodge Podge Hardware - I love how that stuff can make a seemingly simple card look very snazzy in an instant!

So that's my card for this week! Be sure to check out my DT girl friends (follow my side bar links!)and see what they came up with. I for one can't wait to check them all out considering how much I personally struggled with this challenge!

ETA - When I scheduled this post yesterday arvy, it took me 5 attempts to get it to stop putting everything in double spacing, so once I got that all sorted, I neglected to tell you the colours I used for my card - sorry! Ok, so I've used Mellow Moss, Sahara Sand and Whisper White! I actually think this is where my problems began, cause we have 3 laptops in this house, and each one had slightly different colour variations! lol But in the end, I just went with what I saw on my own lappie!

I'm Still Alive!

Hi everyone!

Just popped in to let you know that I'm still alive, but have been a little off colour this week and because of that, I have nothing new and exciting to post! Can you believe I haven't touched my stamps since Saturday arvy...........that's when I know I'm not well! lol

Luckily for me, I made my DT card for Keesh's challenge last Saturday while I was on a bit of a roll and it'll be uploaded tomorrow night just after 6pm! At least that will give you something nice and new to look at until I'm back on track!

Maybe the weekend will see me back to my old self and full of creative energy which needs to be put into cardmaking...............one can only hope eh!

Back Again!

Here I am - told you I'd be back! lol

This is the other card I made yesterday in exactly the same colour scheme (with some white added) as the one in the post below! It's super simple and would make a great workshop card I think!

The little tape measure casing is popped up on dimensionals to add some interest, and I've distressed the edges of the whisper white card stock as well for some texture!

Hope you enjoy this one too, I just love this Totally Tools set! If you don't have it already, then be sure to add it to your wish list because I guarantee you, you won't be sorry you did!

Tool Fun!

It feels so good to have sat down and made a card just for the heck of it today! I've finished designing my workshop projects which feels so good - now I only have to cut and prep all the kits which I'll do closer to the dates!

This is one of the cards I made today using the Totally Tools stamp set! I have only just recently added it to my stamp collection, and I have to say, it's so much fun to make male card with - lots of possibilites!

This particular card was inspired by one that I had saved to my old laptop of which I unfortunately have no details of now! So, with having no pic to look at and going solely on memory (already off to a bad start! lol), I knew I had to make the tools look like they were hanging in a shed! So with that in mind, I set about making my own version of it, using some of the gorgeous DSP which are available as a Level 1 Hostess Gift! I unwrapped my papers today for the first time and all I can say is wow!! They are seriously nice!!

So here's my card!

It's really a very simple card using the colour scheme of Basic Grey,Going Grey, Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red! The brads aren't pushed right down flat as I wanted them to look as though they were protruding from the wall for the tools to hang on. This also make the tools move a little bit too which is quite cool! lol

I hope you like this one, and perhaps tomorrow I'll come back and upload the other one I made in the same colour scheme using the little stamp featuring the tape measure! It's a simple card too, but I really like it!

Another Inkspiration Challenge!

Well here we are at Friday again - the days are just flyin' by! I've had a huge day getting my house work in order, mowing the lawn ect, so I can hopefully chill out bit on the weekend and make a few cards! I'm also in the midst of prepping for a few up and coming workshops too, so my time is very divided between having projects done for those and also a few projects for my blog as well! Maybe one day I will find a really nice balance there! lol

Anyhooo, this week Keesh had a gorgeous colour combo for us to play with yet again! It just so happens that my daughter Maddy has a birthday party to go soon, and this colour combo screamed party fun to me! Killing 2 birds with the one stone seemed the logical thing to do with this challenge, so I set about making a fun and bright card for the little birthday girl!

Here's the colours! Aren't they noice!!

And here's my card! Yet again, I'm infatuated with square cards! I think I need to move on from those sometime soon don't you think! lol

I've used the Party Hearty stamp set, some DSP from the Sweet Always range and also a little DSP from the Palette of Prints we had access to last year during a promo!

The scalloped edge border punch to make the ric rac braid (another fun thing you can use it for!), and I used my crimper on the cardstock used for the bow! I just found by doing that, it added a little bit of texture and fun to the card! The flames have also had Dazzling Diamonds applied to them as well! Gotta have a bit of sparkle on there somewhere!

I really enjoyed making this card and putting lots of different little bits and pieces on it. Although it's a pretty 'busy' card, I think it's perfect for a little girl! Be sure to check out the other gorgeous creations the Design Team has come up with, and as always, their links are on my RH side bar!

Hope you have a fantastic Queen's Birthday long weekend - I'm hoping to watch a few DVD's with the kids and make some cards while I'm at it! Hubby has to work - what a bummer!

Mojo Monday Challenge!

Morning everyone! I thought I would attempt to get a quick post done up for you this morning before I wake my kids and get them ready for school! I've been out bright and early trying to photograph my card and although it's not the best pic (due to outside weather conditions) you'll get the gist I'm sure!

Ok, so my mojo went walk about yesterday, and I thought what better way to try and coax it back than to give the Mojo Monday sketch challenge a go! It was a great challenge this time as you can see below!

And this is my card!

I thought I'd play around with Hank again and make him into a bit of a "pub crawl" monkey! lol I made his party hat into what I'm hoping you think looks like a beanie and he's enjoying a bit of a drink!

Again, I've used the Washington Apple DSP along with Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie and Riding Hood Red! As well as using the Sock Monkey Stamp Set, I also used Cheers To You (those glasses are pretty much a perfect size for ol' Hank) and the Sanded Background!

You can't really see it in the photo, but the beer 'froth' is made by mixing flour and water together to make a paste, then I applied it to the image with a little toothpick and then heated it with my heat gun! This also make great 'icing' for any of those cupcake stamps you have!

So there ya go - a nice early morning post! Hope you have a great Wednesday - I'm hoping to sit and make cards all day...........we'll see how I go! lol

A Simple Card Today!

Hi everyone!

Just a simple card to share today...........I seem to have a bit of an issue with missing mojo, so things on the card making front are not so good! lol

This is a card I made today using the Totally Tools stamp set, Frames With A Flourish, Occassional Greetings, and also the Circle Circus stamp set! I find when my mojo goes walk about, I need to refocus and go back to the very basics of making a simple card and then sometimes my mojo comes back - I did say the word sometimes! lol

The DSP I used is the Washington Apple! I checked what colours co-ordinate with the paper, and thats how I came up with the added combo of Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie!

Your probably wondering where on earth I used Circle Circus too, right?! Ok, so pop on your glasses and get up really close to the screen and you'll see I've used the weeny tiny circle on the top section of the Bashful Blue card stock! Because I stamped it in versamark ink, it's quite light and therefore pretty hard to capture in a photo!!

I've stamped the little spanner in Bashful Blue Ink, then stamped another on scrap card, cut it out and mounted it over the original just to give it a bit of dimension! The 'Happy Birthday' is stamped in Pumpkin Pie Ink, and I just stamped each word seperately to get the words where I wanted them.
The finishing touch was just a few brads - easy as! I think it made for a nice, simple male card - do you?
