Simple Flower Card!

Happy Sunday!!

I thought I'd show you the card I finished just now.  I actually started it some hours ago while on the phone to my friend good friend Kirsty Brown, and while I didn't have a clue what I was doing really, I just stamped random bits and pieces and when I hung up the phone, I pieced something together!  I should have actually taken a picci of my desk here too - good lord what a mess!!

So here's my simple, but pretty birthday card!

What I did first ,was stamp one of the frames from the 'Frames With a Flourish' stamp set onto my Crumb Cake card using Crumb Cake ink!  That gave for a nice subtle background!

Then I stamped the large rectangle frame (from the same stamp set) onto Vanilla card,  cut it out and then using my slit punch I created two slits for the Kraft ribbon to thread through!

Next, I cut out some leaves using my sizzlet die from Mellow Moss card and a flower using the Flower Fusion sizzlet die!  I spritzed the leaves using the matching marker and I sponged the flower (which is Pink Pirouette) using Blushing Bride Ink - just to give it a darker shading!  The flower is secured with a clear rhinestone brad!

Now onto the wording!  That looks like its stamped in black doesn't it, but infact it's Early Espresso.  If I had my time over, I'd have stamped it off once, just so it wasn't that dark!  Oh well, live and learn hey!

All in all I really like this card, and it was fun doing it while chatting to Kirsty.........even if it was for 2 hours and 23 minutes! lol

Just Add Ink #36

Well hello again!

Two posts in two days...........not bad! lol

I've just finished the sketch challenge over at Just Add Ink so I thought I'd quickly pop in here and show you!  I had a heck of a time with this challenge, but yet it's so simple - go figure!

Ok, so here's the sketch for this week!

Since you all know I have 'issues' with making cards in a landscape orientation, I flipped it and came up with this little creation!

I chose the DSP first which is probably where I went wrong.  I really love it and was desperate to work with it, but maybe I should have chosen something else to make it easier on myself! lol

When it came time to thinking about the 2 little bits I needed to add which represented where the butterflies are on the sketch, I had absolutely no idea what to add!
I sat and I thought........and I thought while I sat, until I finally figured out I needed to focus on circles, since there's heaps of them  on the DSP!  Once I had that sorted, things seemed to fall into place nicely!

That's my entry for this week.  I'll pop on over and enter it now and then get started on our meatloaf for dinner!

10th Birthday Card!

Hi all!

Can you believe we are almost done with the first week of school holidays here in Queensland?  I really enjoy having the kids at home and we've been having some lovely time together, so today was the first time I've sat down and stamped!!

Our little boy is Brock is turning 10 on Tuesday, so I thought I'd better get a wriggle on and make him a card before time got away from me!  His favourite colour in the world is Red and he also loves anything that has to do with aeroplanes, so I used that as the basis for my card today!

Here it is!

I actually used some of my new Stampin' Up! goodies today too.  I broke open my new Pear Pizzazz Inkpad and used the matching card stock, as well as a little bit of 'Celebrations' DSP - all of which are very nice!!

I made my own background of planes using a Papertrey Inks stamp set called Fly Away - it's a total bargain at just $5!  I also used used the Mat Stack 3 die from Papertrey Ink to act as a focal point for my numbers which are sizzix dies by SU!  To make my numbers really pop, I went around them with my versamark pen.

All in all, another simple card which was heaps of fun to make!  Hope you like it!

Party Invites!

Happy Sunday!!

Crikey - another week done and dusted!  My kids are school holidays now which I LOVE!  I always look forward to the lazy days and just plain chillin' out!  Maybe I'll even get a bit of stampin' in too if I'm lucky! lol

Yesterday I sat down and got the party invites done for Maddison's 13th birthday!  I didn't want to go with the norm, so I made something a little bit cute.  The details of the party will be rolled up and secured with a ribbon inside.

Maddison just loves them so I'd say mission accomplished!  What do you think?

I've Been Spoilt!

Hey there!

I thought I'd share with you the cutest gift that arrived on my doorstep this morning from my card exchange buddy Lorri over in the US!
We've been having a ball exchanging fun cards, but this time, she sent me a little gift........wanna see?

Well, first lets check out the card and the packaging - total cuteness!!

I just LOVE how she co-ordinated the card to match the packaging.  The gift also matched the stamp set 'Wicked  Cool' that she's used..............check it out!!!

It's the cutest little hanging halloween ornament - isn't it awesome!!! lol

So, now its my turn to put something together for her.  I think I'm gonna go the 'Australiana' route with my return gift, so I best get my thinkin' cap on huh! lol

Thanks Lorri - I LOVE IT!!

Curtain Call Act #47

Morning everyone!

Finally I'm back with another challenge card.  I tackled Stacey's Curtain Call Colour Challenge this morning because the colours were just so lovely and 'earthy' - my kinda colours!

In case you haven't feast your eyes on them yet, here they are!

As soon as I saw them, I immediately thought of a garden scene,  so I went with that thought and came up with this..............

I made a little picket fence using my large tag punch, cut out a few leaves with my sizzlet die and the made the flowers with the flower fusion sizzlet die (crumpled each one up, layered them on top of each other and secured with a brad) - very easy!

I had a lovely time putting it all together and I hope you enjoy it too!  Thanks Stacey for another gorgeous challenge!

Colour Lab Colour Challenge #9!

I've been meaning to play along with the Colour Lab's challenges for a few weeks now, but for some reason I never get around to it!  I just checked their blog earlier today and they have a beautiful colour combination for us this week that I was pretty keen to have a go at!  There's still a few days to go with this challenge too, so I urge you to play along!

Look at the pretty colours for this week!

And here's my card

I kept things super simple again with the cupcake being the main feature (or maybe it's my watermark that's the main feature! lol)!  The stamp set I've used is from Papertrey Ink and it's called Cupcake Collection.  I even stamped on Confetti White for a change too - I forgot I even had that stuff! lol

Well thats my post for today and I hope you've enjoyed it!  I'm off to try my hand at a few other challenges now!

Party Bag Tutorial Link!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I've had a few emails and comments asking me about the tutorial for the party bags!  Unfortunately it isn't my design so I can't take one ounce of credit for being that clever (lol!) but if you go here and look under 'templates' you'll find it!  It's called the Haute Tote!

Enjoy!

I'm Still Here!

Hey there friends!

I've been a bit of a slack blogger of late, but I thought I'd pop in here to show you what I've been up to!

Our beautiful girl Maddy is turning 13 in January, but because that falls in the school holidays, we're giving her a party in early December before she finishes school so that most of her friends will be able to come!

I really want to make this birthday special for her, so I thought I'd get a bit of a headstart on the party bags because as we all know, December is a busy enough time as it is, and I figure if I nut away each week making a few bits and pieces, by the time the party is here - there will be no stress!  Yeah right.....famous last words! lol

She is a very 'pink and purple' kinda girl, so I've used every bit of pink and purple piece of paper I own to make these........

In addition to buying little things to fill them, I'm also making stuff as well.  Yesterday saw me make some of these cute little post it note key chains.

I got them all done, but ran out of the silver hinged hoop things and after a mercy dash to everywhere I thought would stock them here in Mackay, I had to resort to my friend Patrice in Canberra tracking me down some at her local scrapbook store.  Thank goodness for friends huh!

So as you can see I have been busy and not perched up in front of the telly watching Dr Phil!  I am going to make something non party related this week though - I need to for my own sanity! lol

Thanks for stopping by today!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #38

Hi Folks!

This week I find myself as a guest designer for Keesh's Inkspirations Challenge and the colours are so lovely!

I actually intended to make a Christmas card using them, but after 3 attempts I gave up and went back to a simple and kinda funky card which I hope you'll like!

Here are the beautiful colours for this week!

And my fun circle card!

This was the EASIEST card ever to do once I finally decided which way I was going with it!  I tell ya, the good ol' circle will get you out of trouble in a flash if you need it to! lol

So, all I've done is stamp the dotty circle image from the 'Think Happy Thoughts' stamp set onto the coloured card stock.  Then I punched them out with my 1 1/4" punch and adhered them on the Whisper White piece of card.  Then I just tied a big bow using Baja Breeze ribbon and applied a rub on onto the metal edged tag which I then hung from the bow using linen thread.  That was it - all done!

At first I wasn't 100% happy with it, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.  It's one of those happy kinda cards I think!

Okey Dokey,  I'm off to check out the rest of the Design Team (links below) to see what they've come up with and be sure you do too, they NEVER disappoint!

Curtain Call Act 45!

Morning All!

Gosh I have to say I've really struggled to be creative this week!  I'm not sure what the heck is wrong with me - I just can't seem to get into the groove and it's very frustrating!!

I've been trying to get something made for the Curtain Call Act 45 this week because I really love the colours, and finally managed to do that yesterday afternoon!!  I don't have any of the new colours as yet, so I substituted......again! lol

OK, so here's the colours!

And here's my card in all it's 'simple' glory!

When I was finished making it yesterday afternoon, I wasn't all that fussed on it and I couldn't pin point what was bugging me!  Having woke this morning though, it kinda looks a bit better.  Isn't it funny how 'sleeping on it' makes you see it in a whole new light! lol

I'm a guest designer for Keesh's Inkspiration Challenge this week, so I'm hoping to get that card done today!  I sure hope my mojo returns good and proper for that one! lol

See ya Friday night at 6pm!
